3 Ways to Spend Too Much Money on Ab Exercise Equipment
Your dreams of having those beautiful six pack abs is very reachable once you figure out what has the best impact on your body.
Since today there are so many ab machines proclaiming to give you the sexiest abs EVER, it’s pretty tricky to know which ones to believe and which ones will end up being a complete waste of time, energy, and money.
That’s why I’ve decided to give you 3 ways to spend too much money on ab exercise equipment, hoping this will keep you from doing it.
1. Purchasing a gimmicky ab rocker contraption from a late night infomercial instead of investing your money in a stability ball.
Here’s what those ab contraptions DON’T do:
- work your entire core (no matter what they say)
-give you weight loss in your stomach
-give you better results than a basic crunch that can be done without the machine for free
What the stability ball DOES do:
- forces you to tighten your entire core to balance during workouts
- it’s versatile enough to use in full body workouts that do promote belly fat loss
-works all of your core muscles at once (from your abs to your back)- far more than you can reach doing a basic crunch
2. Not using the ab equipment frequently enough, or at all.
Ok, I know that sounds pretty obvious but I’ve known people to do this and the ab machines just end up sitting in an extra room collecting dust. Maybe it’s not what they had expected, maybe the return process is a hassle, maybe they didn’t have the time they thought they’d have to use it; either way, it becomes clutter.
On the other hand, I know there are people who get an ab machine, use it a lot, but then eventually lose interest because they don’t have the results they thought they were going to have at that point. They don’t look like the professional fitness model that was demonstrating the product. (Think about this, do you honestly believe those fitness models got their results from that ab gadget they’re promoting?)
3. Not practing a healthy diet.
My motto is DIET IS KING as far as fat loss and getting six pack abs is concerned. It is an element that is very much responsible for the amount of belly fat you have hiding (or not hiding) your abs.
If you eat junky processed foods, it doesn’t matter how hard you work out, you won’t get the results you want and you’ll be wasting your time just burning off the crappy food you eat. You’ll be in a constant cycle and won’t get any significant results.
If you eat too little (say if you’re on a “low” whatever diet or you think starving yourself will make you lose belly fat) then you’re doing more harm than you think.
By not consuming enough food, you’re not properly feeding your
muscles to maintain themselves. You end up losing all that muscle mass. It is the job of your muscles to convert fat to energy but if they aren’t well-fed, your body uses them for fuel.
So basically, no matter how hard you work out on your stability ball, or any piece of exercise equipment for that matter, your body will always end up using the muscle you work hard at building for energy, not for fat loss.
If you really want to give up your time and money to ineffective methods of losing fat and toning your abs, then have at all the ab gimmicks in the world. But because you’re reading this, I truly believe that is not you. Take this into consideration the next time you’re looking to purchase ab exercise equipment and don’t fall for the hype.
