There are many routines for building upper body strength, but then not every single one of these routines are ideal for everyone. First and foremost, people have to get the support of a professional trainer prior to starting one of these routines; or else they may get injured. Moreover a doctor’s recommendation is as ever of great help in understanding the advantages and disadvantages of particular routines on an individual.

A handful of of the best routines for upper body build are as given here:

1) A flat bench press routine is performed with the assistance of dumbbells or similar sorts of free weights. During this type of routine, one lies on the bench keeping the feet stable on the floor; this offers the required stability. The dumbbell or alternative weight is maintained at a secure position near the upper section of the chest; the bar is then raised and then lowered. Both these actions are done slowly.

2) Performing push ups is often considered to be the top routine for upper body build. In this drill, you would press your body up and down on the ground. When the body is pulled downward your sternum should contact the floor while the lower half of your body stays in line with the ground.

3) In a bicep curl routine, a free weight is grasped in the palm. The weight can be a barbell or a dumbbell and this routine is done while standing. The weight is raised by flexing the elbow(s), and then slowly lowered till the arms are nearly straight, but not as far as the extent of elbow lock. The elbows are squeezed in, and the spine is are kept erect.

4) During the tricep extension routine one needs a support – typically a bench – and the exercise also uses a dumbbell. You bend over, set one hand onto the bench, and raise the weight by lifting the elbow towards the trunk.

Certainly, there are other workouts for strengthening the upper parts of the body. However, by doing these fundamental workouts, you should gain a balanced all-round program for your upper body.
