Treadmills – The Good, Bad And The Ugly
The always popular treadmill machines are fairly common, but is it the right workout machine for you? You will burn the same amount of calories and get generally the same work out on a treadmill as you would jogging outside, but there can be a few differing factors.
Perks
-Treadmills work great if you have nowhere to run due to the type of area that you may live in. If you exercise in the evening, using a treadmill may be better when it comes to your safety, as running alone at night isn’t always your safest option.
-If you have just begun to run, a treadmill will help you to pace yourself until you become a stronger runner. Your stamina will improve, and you can set your treadmill to go quicker or at a steeper incline.
-Also, the treadmill will be kinder to your joints that the rough pavement. The treadmill absorbs more shock than the pavement and could be a better option for those who have weak joints or bad backs.
-On a treadmill, you can keep track of how hard you are exercising. Your progress will be displayed so that you know how well you are doing.
-Most motels and hotels have treadmills if you wish to continue your exercise on the go.
The Downside
-You will not garnish that wonderful fresh air that the outdoors has to offer. But if your city is incredibly smoggy then this won’t be an issue.
-You might find running indoors boring compared to outdoors unless you are a TV buff who enjoys the new or soap operas.
-A treadmill does require balance in order for you to not fly off of it. You may find yourself on the floor behind the treadmill if you don’t pay close attention.
Before you choose your method of exercise, think about these pros and cons, but keep in mind that working out is something you should do, regardless of how you choose to do it. Do your research before choosing your treadmill, as some offer some great features that you may want to have.
